With rinoplasty being one of the most popular plastic surgery procedure it is moving from the empire of the rich and famous into the homes of regular people like you and me.

Understanding Rhinoplasty Nose reshaping surgery is a nasal surgery. The process can be performed for medical reasons, breathing troubles, birth flaws, or injury, or it may just be performed for aesthetic beauty purposes. According to the recent statistics from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (www.baaps.org.uk), demand for the procedure has moved up by 34 per cent in one year, making it the fifth most admired procedure for women in the UK and the most popular for men.

Nose jobs have the ability to change the size of the nose in its entirety, removing a bump, modifying the shape of the bridge or the tip of your nose and tapering the nostril openings. Rhinoplasty is chiefly of two types: reduction and augmentation. One of its subtypes is tip reshaping also called tip-plasty which involves reshaping the tip of the nose. As stated by consultant plastic surgeon Lucian Ion, from the West London Clinic (www.westlondonclinic.co.uk): The mark of a balanced nose is a tip thats in proportion. As reported by Alex Karidis, reduction is more popular when compared to the other kind of rhinoplasty. Large shape nose has become a history now when people used to have bulky nose called button nose.

Advantages of rhinoplasty The intention for majority of the patients looking for rhinoplasty is to improve the look of their nose as declared by Mr Kalpesh Patel an ear, nose and throat surgeon. Plastic surgeons are able to correct deformities in your nose and make you feel better about how it looks. This, certainly, translates to more confidence on your side. Also, rhinoplasty can be carried out to improve nasal function for example, due to a birth defect or injury thats led to breathing problems. Mr Ion remarks that skin becomes thin with the increasing age. Similarly, the fat around the nose looses resulting in the drooping of the nose. Thus, Rhinoplasty is more common for people of old age group.

The rhinoplasty process

If the nose needs to be smaller, cartilage and bone will be taken out during surgery. The main process is a closed operation, performed from inside the nose and leaving no noticeable scars. The surgeon go into the nose through cuts inside the nostrils and reshapes the bone or cartilage to give the desired shape. Open rhinoplasty surgery allows the surgeon the least restricted access to the cartilage and bone of the nose but is also more likely to cause scarring. The incision across the columella makes it achievable for the surgeon to lift the skin off the tip of the nose and shape the cartilage exactly. When recovered, the incision leaves a very small, almost invisible scar on the underside of the nose.

Rhinoplasty cost Expect to compense between 3,000 and 4,000.

After operation care

When you wake up from surgery, you may get facial bruises and swelling thatll give you the look of having been in a fight. This will persist for around two weeks. Your reworked nose will be supported with a splint or plaster cast for about a week. Dont perform any ardous activities, pass much time in direct sunlight or bend forward for the first week for risk of bleeding. Realize that the tip of the nose can feel insensitive for 6-12 months, but feeling will eventually come back.

Rhinoplasty and risks it entails All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk and rhinoplasty is the same. There is a risk of infection and of having a reaction to the anesthetic. After surgery, small burst blood vessels may appear as small red spots on the surface of the skin. These are generally small, but may be permanent. If the cartilage is over removed, it may even worsen the look. However, people usually get relief from breathing problems if appropriate care is being taken.

Is it a ever lasting solution? In about one example out of ten, a second procedure may be needed-for instance, to rectify a minor abnormality. The corrective surgery is generally minor. Recovery takes time. Some swelling, generally noticeable only to you, may last for several months. You can expect to see the final outcomes of your rhinoplasty six to twelve months after your surgery.
